Equipment Needed

No equipment required (extra equipment is on-hand), but fins, board, paddles, and buoy are recommended


A swimmer entering this group should be able to complete 100 yards of freestyle with side breathing.  It's preferred that swimmers have at least the basic fundamentals of other strokes, but that is not a requirement.

In-Water Focus

The Masters Group will work on a variety of skills: 

  • aerobic & anaerobic training
  • open water training
  • stroke drills in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
  • starts, turns, and racing strategies
  • sets that mix swim and dryland

Other Notes

Some swimmers in this group are training for fitness, while others will occasionally compete in Masters meets, triathlons, and open water swims.  Regardless of a swimmer's goals or abilities, there's a workout and set of intervals that will meet their needs.
