Welcome Tomorrow kicks off our 12th season as a club. Oddly enough, from a personal standpoint it’s the most relaxed I’ve been to start a season in a long time. I think we’re putting a great product with organized groups, experienced coaches, and opportunities for everyone to grow in the sport. For the 200+ joining us this fall: thank you! I say this often but it bears repeating: A 20 minute drive will get you to almost half a dozen other swim teams in the area. It means a lot...
Welcome Storm families, to the last few quiet days before the start of the 2024-2025 season! We’re excited about new families, new facilities, and new programs offered this year as we continually try to provide a great experience for your swimmer and your entire family. Week Zero We’ll start the season Tuesday for swimmers that began this summer or fall. New Thunderstorm TPC Wisconsin T,W,R,F 5:00-5:45P New Everyone Else TPC Wisconsin T,W,R,F 5:45-6:30P As you wonder “What’s TPC Wisconsin?” – it’s the former Cherokee Country Club. Directions for this pool...
Happy Summer Storm Families! We hope this finds you enjoying your last few weeks of Summer! We wanted to outline some important upcoming events so you can add them to your calendar. New Family Meeting For all the families that joined over the summer and for the fall session, we encourage you to jump in on the virtual New Family Meeting, held on Google Meet tomorrow afternoon, August 20th at 7:30P. Join the meeting here and come prepared with any questions you may have. Annual Meeting We can’t wait to...
Upcoming Event Updates Regionals All details are posted for both the Regionals at Walter Schroeder (Brown Deer) and the Last Chance Meet in Fond Du Lac 12&U/13&O State Meets A few folks still haven’t declared their swimmers for the upcoming meets. Be sure your swimmer isn’t listed as uncommitted for the appropriate event. New Swimmer Evaluations Last fall, we had 36 new swimmer evaluations. We’re already up to 34 signed up for this year over the course of the next three weeks. For the first time since 2019, it looks...
Extended Forecast (staying with my weather puns) Since the summer is typically an easier going affair, the news and deadlines tend to come in a bit slower so I hope that you don’t mind a week off from the newsletter. We’ll likely skip next week and do the next one in two weeks, as well. Parade Float? Pt 2 A drenched Erin indicated that the Token Creek Parade was a great success. Now we start planning for Corn Fest 2024, and the parade on August 14th at 6pm. This is...
Parade Float? Many of you that know me well, know that I don’t do well at repeating the same thing over and over. I like to go bigger and better, or at least – different – whenever I can. It’s why our meet schedule varies so much from year to year. Anyway—we’ve been toying with the idea of an honest-to-goodness parade float for this year’s Cornfest parade. Rather than simply walking with a banner, having a trailer decorated for swimmers to be a part of. We have a theme: The...
Sponsor Opportunity As we continue to make Sun Prairie West our new home for swim meets, we’re looking to create Storm Aquatics backstroke flags. Each set of flags will feature Storm Aquatics, the number of each lane, and ONE sponsor. So, two sets of flags, two sponsors. Great visibility for a sponsor’s logo, as they’ll be in a lot of pictures of swimmers over the next few years. If you’re interested in having your business get a lot of visibility at our home meets, reach out to Erin. Olympic Trials...
Another Registration Record 117 swimmers! And we’re not done! With our winter, spring, and summer numbers all at records, we’re making great progress in building the program. Contrasting that growth against a 4% drop in swimmers nationwide, and stale growth in Wisconsin—we’re in very good shape with an expected “Olympic Bump” happening this fall. If you drive 15 minutes in just about any direction, you’ll find another team. There are options everywhere. Thanks for choosing Storm and helping us grow something special here. Olympic Trials Watch Party Thanks to the...
Welcome to the Summer Session With our summer registration tipping to 109 this evening, we have officially claimed our largest summer roster ever. With another half dozen college swimmers still to go, we’re looking at roughly 115 swimmers—thanks to everyone who took the leap into the summer with us. We know there are tons of things going on in your lives this summer, we’re extremely confident about the long-term growth and development of swimmers who spend the summer with us. #SummerStrong isn't just a hashtag I've used on our social...
Wrapping up the Spring A busy spring wraps up this week, with the last evening practice Thursday. For those of you dashing over to summer league next week—I’m pretty sure we’ll cross paths again in the coming weeks. For those of you trying to find ways to balance summer league and Storm (and your checkbooks)—if you’re stuck and in need of some creative solutions, please reach out. We get to focus on a much smaller pool of swimmers in the summer and it allows us to be much more flexible...
