The Opening of the Season

The first meet of the season marks the “real” start of things, and that happens Saturday.  Just under 100 of our swimmers will going another 260 swimmers from around the Madison area for the Spring Scramble.  We had our last preparatory Meet Committee meeting tonight and I’m aware of a number of you going above and beyond in terms of volunteering.  THANK YOU.  It’s definitely trickier to pull off a meet in the spring when we’ve got 50 less swimmers than usual, but many families are doing their part and more.  This meet represents nearly $10K in revenue, and it wouldn’t happen without families like yours.

Saturday will also be the first EVER competition for approximately 35 swimmers from Dolphin Swim Academy and the Prairie Athletic Club swim schools.  This may be the most adorable event we’ve ever hosted, and we’re really excited to introduce these youngsters to the sport.  Thanks to the 13&O athletes that are volunteering to make this event memorable.

Summer Session

Details and fee structures are up for the summer session and can be found here.  It starts immediately after Memorial Day and will run through the end of July.

There’s a credit back to your account of 10% of summer fees for anyone who’s doing both Storm and summer league.

I’ve touched on this summer’s opportunities a bit already, with expanded Rising Stars and varied competition opportunities.  One thing folks will need to plan early for is our Travel Meet.  Our plan is to do some group travel if possible to do a prelims/finals meet at the end of June in the Indianapolis suburbs of Noblesville.  The Enchanted Forest meet, open to all 11&O, will either be team vans or a bus, depending on the number of interested swimmers.  This will be a chaperoned event.  If your swimmer would want to participate in this, please declare them NOW so we can plan out transportation and lodging.
