Storm Forecast for June 19th, 2024

Parade Float?

Many of you that know me well, know that I don’t do well at repeating the same thing over and over.  I like to go bigger and better, or at least – different – whenever I can.  It’s why our meet schedule varies so much from year to year.  Anyway—we’ve been toying with the idea of an honest-to-goodness parade float for this year’s Cornfest parade.  Rather than simply walking with a banner, having a trailer decorated for swimmers to be a part of.  We have a theme: The Olympics.  We have a place to decorate it.  We have a company to tow the trailer.  What we don’t have is: 1) a trailer long enough to be float-worthy, and 2) a real commitment from families that would be creative/dedicated enough to create a parade float from scratch.  If you’ve got a big ol’ trailer that can be towed through the Cornfest parade, and/or the need for a creative outlet in some parade float design and decoration, let me know!  We have several training groups that are excited and willing to help, but we could use a leader for this.

Trials Watch

Ben Wiegand grew up with Storm before moving on to swim for the Badgers of UW Madison.  After a successful Junior year that saw him as the Big 10 Champion in the 200 freestyle relay, he's now got his sights set on Trials.  He'll compete against the nation's best tomorrow morning in the 50 freestyle.

Watch Party Wrap-Up/Olympics Watch?

We had a great time watching the Olympic Trials at Marcus Cinemas tonight.  Our showing was by far the busiest of the movies tonight.  Thanks to everyone that joined.  We’re in talks about renting again for a night of Finals at the Olympics, too.  Being in Paris, things will start earlier.  Mark your calendars for July 29th from 1-3:30P.

Practice Updates & Changes

We’re still waiting for word on what days we’ll lose West next week. I hope we’ll know by this Friday, but I’m frankly just pulling a day out of the air.  Stay tuned!

Sponsor Opportunity

As we continue to make Sun Prairie West our new home for swim meets, we’re looking to create Storm Aquatics backstroke flags.  Each set of flags will feature Storm Aquatics, the number of each lane, and ONE sponsor.  So, two sets of flags, two sponsors.  Great visibility for a sponsor’s logo, as they’ll be in a lot of pictures of swimmers over the next few years.

If you’re interested in having your business get a lot of visibility at our home meets, reach out to Erin.
