Storm Forecast for May 29th, 2024
Welcome to the Summer Session
With our summer registration tipping to 109 this evening, we have officially claimed our largest summer roster ever. With another half dozen college swimmers still to go, we’re looking at roughly 115 swimmers—thanks to everyone who took the leap into the summer with us. We know there are tons of things going on in your lives this summer, we’re extremely confident about the long-term growth and development of swimmers who spend the summer with us. #SummerStrong isn't just a hashtag I've used on our social media posts, it's a commitment to being the best one can be.
Storm Day at Six Flags
We’re going to celebrate the end of the school year with a day at Six Flags! On Wednesday, June 12th, swimmers (whether active for summer or not), siblings, family, friends, and other teams are all invited to head to Six Flags to make friends and memories together. Families should arrive at 2, and can stay for as long as they want. Group tickets are available here.
Olympic Trials Watch Party
A ticket link has now been added for our Olympic Trials watch party, held at Palace Cinema in Sun Prairie. The event will take place on the evening of the 19th, and is open to Storm swimmers (active or not), family, and friends. However, we’ve been given one of the smaller theaters (70 seats) and 16 seats are already gone. If you’d like to watch Trials with us, jump in and buy a ticket for $10 to cover the cost of the theater. Attendees should arrive around 6:40-6:50, with racing happening from 7-9pm.
Plan B for Watertown Meet
The dream of our 1 session 14&U meet against the Route 19 gang has passed, unfortunately. Watertown has decided against hosting, our 3 pool managers are planning long Father’s Day Weekends and will be away, and we’re unable to secure Deforest or Waunakee. So, the Watertown quad meet is no more. That means, we’ll be opening the SWAT Grand Prix to any and all interested swimmers. The only caveat in this: If you’ve got a swimmer that just started this week, you may want to talk to me about signing up for this meet. It’s at a 50m pool, which is probably not the ideal location for a first ever swim meet. Otherwise, everyone else is absolutely fine. It’s distance events on Friday, regular events on Saturday.
Practice Changes
After this week, we’ll have one more week of “Spring mornings” and a condensed PM schedule. Once school lets out, we’ll spread out a bit with our evening practices and go to 5 mornings a week.
Be sure to check your group’s calendar. If you haven’t yet discovered that you can upload your group’s calendar into your own phone, go here and click your swimmer’s group to find the appropriate links.
