Home Meet Preparation

The first meet of the season is always an eye-opening experience for everyone.  For our new swimmers, it can be an initial scary experience that turns into something really enjoyable.  Our new families realize what an undertaking a swim meet is (fun fact: a Meet Committee has been meeting regularly for over a month now, and several parent volunteers have already put in dozens of hours of preparation).  And the teams that come in to our meet (11 other teams this year) realize how well we run our meets.  They move like clockwork!

Over 500 swimmers will be at the meet this weekend.  For our returning families, think back to your first meet with Storm and think of the things you wish you knew.  If you get a chance, connect with someone you don’t know and guide them through.  These first few weeks with the program determine a LOT about a family’s trip through the sport.

I’ll send out a detailed “what to expect and where to find answers” email tomorrow to everyone.

Sponsor Recognition

Simply Swimming Order

With the exception of swim caps, everything from Simply Swimming has arrived.  I believe we’re expecting caps to arrive in the next 10 days or so (we’ll have backups for those that need them).  Equipment will be at TPC Wisconsin tomorrow and at Sun Prairie West on Friday for those wanting things in advance.  We’ll have them on site at the meet, too, along with team shirts.

Elite Apparel Order

We’ve only got until the 6^th for those of you wanting items through Elite Embroidery.  This year especially, there are items for every occasion, from workouts to late night practices at TPC.    

Upcoming Events & Meets

Late Fall Schedule Changes

A few changes have been made to the “Late Fall” schedule.  All changes are now posted to each training group’s schedule.  We’ll use this schedule from October 14^th through mid November.  A winter schedule will be posted next week.

Blood Drive

Sitting at the table for the blood drive on Saturday, it became very clear that some of our best volunteers not only devote their time and energy to this team, but they’re giving their blood on our behalf.  It was a pretty inspiring thing to see.  For everyone that helped, thank you.  It means a lot to a lot of people.
