Storm Forecast – Week Zero Eve - AKA Plan Bs Abound

Week Zero

We’re right on the cusp of Week Zero, and I’m already being given a reminder of the flexible nature of fall.

Sun Prairie Schools management indicated that due to college kids leaving, they might have issues staffing some events.  Boy, does that seem to be the case.  I suspect that Week Zero is going to be cut in half.

Tuesday, September 2nd - Week Zero – All Groups 6:20-7:10P at SP West
                                                            11-12 Tune-Up 7:10-8:05P at SP West

Wednesday, September 3rd – Week Zero – All Groups 6:20-7:10P at SP West
                                                            13&O Tune-Up 7:10-8:05P at SP West

If we luck into getting the Thursday/Friday time that we reserved, we’ll adjust accordingly and add more back to the schedule.  If not, we’ll have gotten everyone into the water.

Saturday’s Social Event

In the spirit of adjusting on the fly, Land of Natura’s last day for the season is…today.  So, we’re pivoting.  Plan A: Devil’s Lake.  Plan B: Renting a park shelter right here in town.  We’ll let you know the Saturday changes by *Wednesday*

Dryland

The trained eye might notice the addition of dryland for several of our training groups.  Here’s the schedule, starting NEXT week:

All at JJ’s Boxing, 5:30-6:20P

Monday - Typhoon, Senior, Performance
Tuesday - Tsunami, Hurricane
Wednesday - Typhoon, Senior, Performance
Thursday - Cyclone, Hurricane

For those of you who haven’t seen things there, JJ’s Boxing sessions do NOT mean your child will be sparring.  These sessions focus on strength, agility, and body control.  They’re pretty intense, but they’re not boxing!  The sessions occur at 1323 W Main Street in Sun Prairie.  The cost is $5, assuming you remember the promo code.

Our Google Calendar now reflects the drylands, and has the promo code and the registration link.

Do You Have Your Equipment?

If your swimmer is new, or moved up a group, or just tends to forget things--it’s worth taking a look inside their gear bag to ensure they have everything for the

If you’re not sure what to get, take a look at your swimmer’s group requirements, found here.

Once you figure out what your swimmer needs, you can make an order through Simply Swimming.  The big fall order goes through September 10th.

On the chance you need things in a pinch, we’ve done something new this year.  We’ve got our own swim store!  Goggles, extra caps, tempo trainers, pull buoys, we’ve got a little bit of everything.  There’s no markup, we’re selling items at the regular MSRP on the TYR website.  Things will be handed to you by a coach, no shipping needed.  Visit the store here.

Custom Caps

If your swimmer loves a good custom cap (or you know, you’ve got twins and it’s the only way most of us can tell them apart), Simply Swimming’s cap order is part of their big fall order.  You can order a pair of caps with a name on them for $31.  Order caps here.

Elite Clothing Order

Elite Embroidery has their fall order up.  It’s got a lot of clothes, including a lovely blue hoodie (our official color for the year’s clothing).  Deadline for this order is September 30th.

First Official Practice is Next Week!

We’re set for our first practice, one week from today.  We’ll expect a few more days where the school district throws a curveball at us, but once they start getting their guards trained we’ll see more consistency.  On those early fall curveballs, we’ll adjust by doing some outside work when we can.
