Storm Social Events

While swimming is the biggest part of this team, a sense of community and belonging, making social connections is the framework that makes it all work.  Kids will find that extra gear when they’re safe among friends.  Families are more likely to help something grow when it’s more than just another sports team.  We cultivate that culture through our actions in the pool and our events outside the pool.  So while you might think a bowling or skating outing sounds small in the grand scheme, they all add up.

Our first regular season social event is upon us.  This Saturday at 2pm, bring your family and friends to Schuster’s Farm.  We’ve rented a bonfire and plan to hang out and let kids and parents get to know one another.  Since the Badgers stink and play at 6, you’ve certainly got a couple hours you can spend doing fun fall things.  Wear Storm gear if you’ve got it and we’ll see you at the Farm.

Purchase tickets here
Online $16.50 | At the farm $16.75
Age 60+:  $13
Ages 2 and under are free

Those With Extra Hair

One of the things I’ve never thought of until recently—what if a child has too much hair for a typical silicone cap?  If your swimmer ends up with some odd lumps in the cap or can’t tuck everything in, we finally have a solution!  Shoot me an email or ask Coach Erin when you see her, and we’ll get your swimmer squared away with a Long Hair Cap.

Still Waiting on DFAC Ribbons

We’ve yet to receive ribbons from DFAC. I stayed as long as my stomach would allow on Saturday night, and they were still scoring the meet.  So we’ll wait to hear from them about ribbon pickup.

Storm Store

If your swimmer breaks a cap, we’ve got a wealth of them on our Storm Store.  If you’ve got a Senior that doesn’t have the necessary short blade fins, we’ve got them on our Storm Store.  If you need goggles in a pinch…you get the idea.  Seriously, we put a lot of stuff on there and it’s sitting in storage, ready for purchase.

Storm-A-Thon & Silent Auction

This year's big fundraiser will be a Storm-A-Thon (think Swim-A-Thon but without pesky copyright infringement). On Friday, December 5th Storm swimmers will race against the clock to complete as many laps as possible. In the days leading up to the event, we need swimmers (and families) to pound the pavement and find sponsors. Sponsors can donate either a flat amount or an amount per length. Family, friends, distant relatives you see at Thanksgiving—get them all to help! We're targeting a goal of $100 per swimmer raised to meet the fundraising needs.

The other half of this event is a silent auction. Items, experiences, crafts, you name it—we're going to try and sell it! One year I was lucky enough to be the high bidder on an aerial tour of Madison. Be creative! As a finder's fee, 10% of the selling price of anything you bring to the auction will be credited to your family's account. Families have until November 24th to get their silent auction item tagged and given to Coach Lake.

Packets will be sent to swimmers on November 3rd. Those will include details on the process and the prizes, which range from small items all the way up to tech suits and parkas!

If you have any questions in the meantime, reach out to me.
