Storm Aquatics Five Day Forecast (am I going too far with these Storm-themed headlines?)
A few things to make you aware of over the next few days:
- Single Age Champs –
- The Single Age Champs roster has been finalized. Fourteen names have been removed from the committed athletes list. Relay only athletes remain listed as committed athletes. Relays can be found on the planning guide.
- We’re doing a quick ad-lib for food on Friday. Instead of going out somewhere, we’re going to have Noodles come to us. We’ll utilize the hallway outside the SPW pool area and have a variety of dishes brought on-site to make the meal go quickly and let those going to hotel rooms Friday night get there at a reasonable hour. Again, details are in the planning guide.
- If you’re needing to book a room and haven’t, talk to some other parents over the next day or two. One of those things we talked about in terms of culture and community is based on parents staying together, hanging out in the lobby together, playing cards after kids go to bed, all that fun. I think we’ll try and formally make recommendations in the future to see if we can get some of that feeling back.
- Fall River –
- I dropped in at Fall River and had encouraging conversations with facility management. They *do* have our lane ropes, and there are hooks in the walls. We’re still working on getting equipment back on deck and getting locker rooms finished, so we’re going to postpone Fall River days until at least 1/1. So in the meantime, here are the Tuesday groups that will be affected:
- Tropical Storm – Tuesdays Now at SPE 4:20-5:10P
- Cyclone – Tuesdays Now at SPE 6:50-8:00P
- Hurricane – Tuesdays Now at SPW 6:15-7:15P

- It might have been a crazy decision to plop Storm-A-Thon right before two meets and a week before Single Age Champs, but boy did it go off nicely. I can’t thank enough Erin for taking the lead on the event, the swimmers for pounding the pavement and securing donations, and the parents who did so much behind the scenes work in helping out swimmers and donating items in the process. As we dig out from under the crazy 10 days we’re in, you’ll see more details about follow-ups (for basket winners, group prizes, awards, etc), but in the short terms I just wanted to thank everyone. We finished with right around $25,000 raised – a huge amount. THANK YOU!
